Watch as Rangers GM Jon Daniels speaks on Rangers trade prior to the August deadline.

The Rangers parted ways with pitcher Mike Minor to Oakland, sending Todd Frazier and catcher Robinson Chirinos to the Mets. The club did retain it’s two biggest trade pieces in slugger Joey Gallo and ace Lance Lynn.

“We had a different value in our minds on Lance then we did on Mike last year. Other teams did too based on interest this year and last year”, Daniels said on keeping Lance Lynn. “I look at Lance, I think he’s one of the best pitchers in the game right now and has been since the start of 2019. We didn’t get to a point where we felt comfortable the value was there.”

Daniels also spoke on trading Mike Minor to the Oakland A’s in return for prospects.

“The two players we got from Oakland, one of whom we knew very well from the draft process and scouted as well. The other whom we weren’t as familiar with, but liked out playing professionally last year. I prefer not to address them specifically, but these are guys we value higher then the industry right now.”

In addition, Daniels spoke on securing a deal with New York to acquire young talent in exchange for Todd Frazier and Robinson Chirinos.

“We were talking about them together and talking to other clubs about Frazier as well. We ended up doing the portion with Robby first, and then the Frazier piece came together afterwards.” “One of them is a group of players, one we know who it is”, Daniels spoke on the Rangers acquisitions from the trade.
